In today’s world it is imperative to have a presence online in business. It is also important to maintain your personal online presence. Clients, customers and colleagues are all searching for you and your company on the web. There is no longer privacy in the world. Being on the web is all about giving up your privacy as an individual, but you have the power as to what people find and what they do not find. If you consistently maintain your personal and corporate presence online you can manipulate the views of those surfing the web. Rather than stay offline to protect your privacy, I urge you to get online, throw privacy to the wind and make a mark – make it a good one.
It is extremely easy to start a few profiles online, enter some social networking sites and create a great presence for you and your company. Much easier than not being proactive and losing a lead, or worse, finding that someone else has been spreading negative feedback that you now have to combat. Get a head start, be proactive.

If people cannot find you or your company on the web, they will more than likely pass you by. Clients/customers want to be able to find out about you and your company at their own convenience. That means late in the evening, sitting in front of that warm computer glow, typing away. If they can’t find you in that Google search your value diminishes.

Time and time again we are given business cards with no web address to do further research on the person and company. No email address to contact the person with newsletters such as this one. No mailing address to locate the person for future leads.

In 2009 there is no excuse to not have an email address, to not have a website of some sort. If you want to do business you must be online.
